Tiki Ti is a little slice of heaven in west Silverlake that is definitely not to be missed. Although it is really easy to miss - it's a tiny place with about five seats at the bar and three tables - unless you go on a weekend, then it's recognizable by the line down the block. It's like Pink's in terms of popularity and notoriety, and even more delicious. It's a tiki bar specializing in rum drinks, which they have about a million of, a few vodka drinks, and one beer - a Foster's can on display behind the bar. The place is covered in island decor, it's dark, a little dingy, and absolutely wonderful. If you go early on a Wednesday - Sunday, they're open from 4pm - 2am, they leave the door open, letting in a nice breeze, and if you don't look outside and down a couple drinks, you can picture yourself in a ocean-side shack on an island in the middle of nowhere, where time stands still.
Did we mention the drinks are some of the best in town? They do with rum what Switzerland does with chocolate - they sprinkle fairy dust and add a little magic sparkles to make it the most delicious thing you've ever tasted. Tiki Ti is a true Los Angeles dive bar in every aspect except the drinks - these $10 creations are worth every penny. Go on a week night, when the crowd is elsewhere so you can saddle up to the bar, chat with the owners, and settle in for a couple hours.
