The Gaslite is a small, dingy little karaoke place in Santa Monica that also packs in the regulars on the weekend nights. Unlike Boardwalk 11, which tends to draw mid-rise actors and people already in bands, and Backstage Bar, which tends to draw people who work in film and the usual LA industries, The Gaslite draws regular people who just love to sing - you know, the guy rocking out with the windows up in the car at the stoplight next to you. The great thing about this place is the $15 beer buckets - a bucket of about five beers for $15. If a beer bucket doesn't get you singing, I don't know what will. For some ungodly reason, they are open from 6am - 2am, so if you really can't wait for karaoke, The Gaslite's probably open.
