Ye Olde Kings Head is located right by the water and super close to the bustling noise of the promenade. They've got a couple of dartboards and some piping hot traditional British meals (like fish and chips).
Ye Old Kings Head in Santa Monica is definitely ready for this year’s World Cup. Nearly a month before the schedule was set to start, the British pub had the entire lineup of matches etched in chalk on one of their large boards (with England’s matches in bright red, of course). Seriously devoted to soccer, there’s no better place to watch the World Cup than surrounded by likeminded people that flock to the Kings Head with the same passion for the game as the bar owners. It also helps that this place has some genuine European flare. Though there are certainly other British pubs in the area, the Kings Head, in the heart of downtown Santa Monica takes their loyalty a step further. Going beyond merely hanging a limp English flag outside their door, this place is covered wall to wall with items that hearken back to our friends across the pond. They have old wooden tables, crests covering the walls, and even a statue of a cheeky little silver knight that stands guard underneath their dartboards. The one downside to watching the World Cup at this oasis of British pride is the size of the area where the televisions are. There are only a few flat screens which means that tons of people will be crowding around the precious seats and stools in the bar area. There is a restaurant attached with more seating, but you won’t be able to see any of the action from there. The crowd can add some stress to the experience, but it can definitely add some fun too. If you post up here with a pint, there will be no shortage of fans to high five (or commiserate with). If you are looking for a rowdy good time where the beer is flowing and the game is front and center on everyone’s minds, then Ye Old Kings Head is the place for you. Just make sure you go early.
