Some places claim to be a true restaurant/bar/lounge combo, but very few pull off doing all three at the same time well. Rush Street in downtown Culver City is one of the rare exceptions that is able to wear all three hats and not end up looking ridiculous. By day this place mostly functions as a restaurant ushering in the corporate lunch crowd and defunct yogis looking for a mid-afternoon gourmet hamburger on their cheat days. This place definitely holds its own among the other hot lunch spots, but it's when the sun goes down that this Rush Street really starts to shine. On its first level, patrons slide into oversized plush leather booths to munch on happy hour treats while others gather around the extended central bar to sip on concoctions like the Pear Flower Martini, or the Tropical Storm. Channeling a Chicago sort of ultra hip warehouse vibe, Rush Street starts to draw in the big crowds around happy hour and doesn't stop until close. It's really no surprise why. This large place has pretty much everything you need for an awesome and entertaining night all under one exposed rustic wood beam roof. Boasting two lounge areas, two bar stops, and two outdoor patio decks, Rush Street makes the most of its square footage pulling in rustic and contemporary accents; mixing large metal bolts and red sultry accents. When you and your crew (this place best serves groups of friends) make Rush Street your first stop of the night, you're bound to also make it your last. When a place has everything, there's no reason to go anywhere else.
