When you're at Duke's in Malibu, it's less like you're enjoying the view and more like you're in the view. Located off of California's Pacific Coast Highway, famous for its gape-worthy scenery and winding roads, Duke's fits in perfectly, nestled along the highway right off the beach. Pulling into their parking lot (you'll definitely want to take advantage of their valet service as parking is more than scarce along PCH), you can immediately tell that this place feels right at home by the shore. Shrouded in island-like palm trees and flowers, the wooden building that is Duke's looks a bit like Robinson Crusoe could have built it. No matter the time of day, you can usually expect to see people waiting outside for their names to be called for a table. Once you're inside, you will instantly recognize what makes Duke's totally worth the wait. There are large windows lining the entire western wall that overlooks the craggily shore of dark black rocks below. Duke's is so close to the ocean, that the crashing waves underneath actually blast the windows with water every so often. With just a few rows of the giant rocks that make up the coast, it truly feels as if Duke's is just a large and sturdy boat out in the Pacific sea. Since this amazing one of a kind view tends to draw in tons of people for lunch and dinner, smarter patrons will take full advantage of the bar adjacent to the restaurant area. Almost as large as the restaurant, the bar area serves up just as much atmosphere (with a limited menu) as its counterpart. Inside the bar you will be mesmerized by the continuous barrage of waves along with the bar's vacation feel. People definitely make a point to order their blended fruity drinks and partake in the Malibu beach culture of relaxation, leisure and rum-infused fun.
