When thinking of a beach bar, an Irish pub isn't usually what comes to mind. But, Hennessey's Tavern isn't your average Irish pub. Forget the dingy, dimly lit (and usually a bit musty) feel of a traditional Irish joint. Hennessey's does their pub in true Southern California style with a large outdoor patio, open breezy windows and a second floor with breathtaking ocean views. Part of a larger network of SoCal restaurants, Hennessey's Tavern in Hermosa is the one that spawned all the rest, and when you visit this "pub,†it's no wonder why. So close to the beach you can smell the sunscreen on the bathing suit clad beach goers, Hennessey's Tavern in Hermosa has got serious beach flare. Though many in Los Angeles tend to immediately think of Hennessey's Tavern when St. Patty's Day rolls around, locals know that this is the spot to frequent year round. Tons of people have been claiming this spot as their local haunt for years. While on their first floor you'll be treated to more typical Irish memorabilia (think Guinness flags hanging from the ceiling over wooden tables), if you wind your way up the stairs, you will immediately enter every Californian's paradise. A large spacious room completely open to the beautiful beach scenery below. With striking views of blue ocean and pale sand for miles, all that sits between you and the coast is a wee bit of waist-high glass. Hennessey's Tavern offers its guests (which usually consist of age-varying groups of friends) gorgeous views, sunshine, pints of beer and delicious burgers. It really doesn't get more SoCal than that.
